A long screen recording may contain only a few minutes worth keeping, while a meeting recording may need only one discussion. This tool lets you open a video in your browser, select the section to keep, and export a new file without installing a full video editor or uploading the video.
First, drag a video into the upload area or select one from your device. The page reads the file name, size, resolution, and duration, then displays the player. Second, drag the two timeline handles to set the start and end positions, or enter a timecode such as 00:01:30.000 directly. You can also use “Use Current Playback Position” to set the current playback time as the start or end point. The selected duration is displayed in real time. Third, click “Trim Video” and download the resulting file below.
Fast cutting copies the original audio and video streams without re-encoding, so it usually finishes within seconds and preserves the original quality. The trade-off is that the start point is aligned to the nearest keyframe, so the actual start may differ slightly from the selected time. Precise cutting re-encodes the video with H.264, making the start point match the selected time more accurately. It is suitable when precise alignment with subtitles, narration, or source material matters, but it takes longer and introduces another compression step.
For compression efficiency, videos do not store every frame as a complete image. Keyframes, or I-frames, contain complete images while other frames store differences from previous frames. Without re-encoding, cutting can only occur at keyframes, so fast cutting may begin at the previous keyframe. Typical keyframe intervals are around 1 to 5 seconds, so the difference is usually limited. Use precise cutting when an exact start point is required.
Fast cutting keeps the source format where possible and provides the source format and MKV. Precise cutting re-encodes the video to H.264 and provides MP4, MOV, and MKV containers. Audio is copied directly in fast mode and encoded as AAC at 128 kbps in precise mode. Available container options are based on the actual capabilities of the current processing engine.

All processing is performed locally on your device.
This tool does not use server-side transcoding. Videos are read locally through the browser file interface, and processing runs inside the browser’s WebAssembly environment. The resulting file is also generated locally by the browser. When the page is closed or refreshed, the file reference is released. Videos are not uploaded or stored on the server, and no registration or login is required.
