Why Do Exchange Rates Change?

Exchange rates change due to foreign-exchange supply and demand, interest rates, economic data, international trade, market expectations and other macroeconomic factors. Therefore, the reference rate for the same currency pair can change over time.

Effect on Conversion Results

When the exchange rate changes, the converted amount for the same source amount also changes. For actual payments, travel spending or currency exchange, the rate applied at the transaction time should be used.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these live exchange rates?

The tool provides reference exchange rates and may display their update date. Actual bank exchanges, international transfers, card purchases and foreign-exchange transactions may use different rates.

How much is 100 USD in CNY?

The CNY value of 100 USD depends on the reference USD/CNY rate at the time of calculation. Enter 100 USD and select CNY to view the current reference conversion.

How do I read USD/CNY?

If the result shows 1 USD ≈ X CNY, X represents the approximate CNY value of one US dollar. The reverse rate shows the approximate USD value of one CNY.

Why is the bank rate different?

The converter provides reference rates, while banks may use different buying and selling rates and may apply transaction fees or channel-specific pricing.

Can I convert several currencies at once?

Yes. The multi-currency feature can show conversion results for multiple common target currencies at the same time.

Can the result be used as the actual bank exchange amount?

No. It is a reference calculation. Actual transaction rates should be based on the quote provided by the bank, payment provider or foreign-exchange platform at the time of the transaction.

Important Note

Exchange-rate data and conversion results are for reference only. Actual rates may be affected by market movements, bank quotes, transaction time, fees and transaction channels. For actual currency exchange or cross-border payments, use the final quoted transaction rate.
